Hello friends.
This years bird-a-thon was an amazing success. The weekend of October 25 - 26 brought clear skies and pleasant temperatures to El Salvador. Seven teams and over 20 observers participated in this years bird-a-thon. Ideal weather and a large turn-out must of helped us reach an astounding 300 species! This is a new bird-a-thon record.
On the side-bar ("Results to Donors 2008") you can find the final report for the 2008 bird-a-thon. It lists species highlights, participants, locations, and there are few pictures of the teams. If you haven't already made a donation, but would like to do so, please download a pledge form from the side bar, fill out the information, then follow the directions at the bottom of this blog site.
This years bird-a-thon was also featured in the current Winging It (October 2008) on page 13. Winging It is a bimonthly publication of the American Birding Association:

2008 SalvaNATURA Bird-A-Thon
SUPPORT US WITH A DONATIONSome Text
SalvaNATURA is a member of The Resource Foundation (http://www.resourcefnd.org/), a non-profit support organization for developing countries in Latin America. Their motto is "Give a hand up, not a hand out." The Resource Foundation for the past several years has channeled donations for the bird-a-thon directly to SalvaNATURA, making donations quick and easy.
Here are the steps:
1) Click on the link: http://www.resourcefnd.org/donate.html#
2) Click "Start"
3) Fill out the registration form for the donation and under "Program Designation" select the member agency, "El Salvador: SalvaNATURA."
4) Please specifiy in "Additional Information" that the donation is for the "SalvaNATURA 2009 Bird-A-Thon." This way we will be sure the donation gets directed towards the appropriate department.
Donations can also be made by sending a check to The Resource Foundation. Just make sure you include the note "for SalvaNATURA 2009 Bird-A-Thon." Checks should be mailed to the following address:
